About
Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) – Kisumu Campus was established in September 2012 as a result of the need to have a Water Training and Research facility for the Western Kenya Region and as part of the initiative to devolve KEWI services to all the 47 counties of the Republic of Kenya.
The current facility is situated about 8 kilometers East of Kisumu city at Kibos Centre and is accessible by Matatu No. 7/11 from Kisumu town.
Its proximity to Lake Victoria where major rivers flow into, water towers like Mau Forest Complex, Mount Elgon and Cherangany Hills provides a lot of potential especially in Water Resource and Management Technology and Water Research and Wastewater Management. The campus has a facility that can host a research centre in relation to water sector.
To adress its expansion agenda, the campus has a 20 acre piece of land in Miwani which will be used as an international training and research centre once fully developed. This will help enrich the institutes core mandate of Training and Research by all stakeholders in the water sector.
Conference Facility & Short courses at the campus
- The Campus offers tailor made short courses in the water sector among them water quality management, waste water management, meter reading, water governance, remote sensing and GIS, Environmental Impact Assessments and audits, Non-revenue water management
