NRW Management Centre of Excellence

Welcome to Non-Revenue Management Centre of Excellence
“Unlocking the future of water loss management”
Non-Revenue Management Centre of Excellence is a state-of-the-art facility located in Nairobi Campus that is designed and dedicated to tackling the challenges of Non-Revenue water.
The facility, which is as a result of close collaboration between Kenya Water Institute and Gatsby Africa, is dedicated to ensuring efficient water management strategies for sustainable future.
The facility targets to bring a wealth of experience in capacity building for water utilities in Kenya. This is as a way of managing the water losses that occasion loss of revenue which runs into billions of money annually.
Why KEWI NRW Center of Excellence

- Access to leading industry experts and researchers
- Participate in specialized workshops and training sessions
- Hire non-revenue water equipments at affordable rates
- Test and calibrate your water meters
Some NRW Equipments
Ultrasonic Flowmeter

- Measures the velocity of a fluid with ultrasound to calculate volume flow.
- Can measure the average velocity along the path of an emitted beam of ultrasound.
Portable Ultrasonic Flowmeter

- Used to measure liquid flow rates from the outside of a pipe by clamp-on transducers.
- Ideal for temporary monitoring, system audits, and validating permanent flow meters.
Listening Sticks

- Used to detect hidden, underground water leaks.
- By pressing a metal rod against a pipe, valve, or hydrant, the stick transmits the vibrations of escaping pressurized water up to a hollow earpiece or an amplified sensor.
Electric Testpump

- Used to conduct hydrostatic pressure and leak tests on pipelines, boilers, valves, and pressure vessels.
- It automatically fills a system with liquid (usually water) and pressurizes it to verify structural integrity and identify leaks without manual physical effort.
Leaknoise Detector

- Acoustic or ultrasonic devices that pinpoint hidden leaks by amplifying the sound of escaping fluid or gas.
- They use highly sensitive microphones, headphones, and visual displays to locate pressurised water leaks under ground or within walls, as well as compressed air or gas leaks in industrial settings.
6- meter Automatic Meter Test Bench.
- A specialized calibration system used to evaluate the accuracy, functionality, and performance of utility water meters
- It allows technicians and manufacturers to verify that meters adhere to standards, for accurate billing.
