About the Division

The main function of the Academic Affairs Division is to conduct training, examinations and award certificates.

Training Programs

Under this division, Kenya Water Institute offers a range of regular training programs in the following levels:

  • Kenya National Qualifications Framework 6 (KNQF 6) - Diploma Level
  • Kenya National Qualifications Framework 5 (KNQF 5) - Certificate Level
  • Kenya National Qualifications Framework 4 (KNQF 4) - Artisan Level

Training Programs & Their Entry Requirements

1. Diploma Programs (KNQF 6)

The Division offers the following Competency Based Education and Training Diploma Programs in the TVET  in line with the Kenya National Qualifications Framework:

  • Water Engineering Technology
  • Wastewater and Sanitation Engineering Technology
  • Irrigation and Drainage Engineering Technology
  • Water Resources Management Technology
  • Water Laboratory Technology
  • Information and Communication Technology

Tuition Per Semester
  • Ksh. 23100
Entry Requirements

KCSE Mean Grade C- (Minus) or a division (ii) in KCE with at least a D (plain) in any of the sciences ( Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Physical Sciences and Biology) or Geography

OR

KCSE Mean Grade C- and Artisan Course Certification from KEWI or any Equivalent National Qualification

OR

As determined by the Academic Board

2. Craft Certificate (KNQF 5)

The Division offers the following Competency Based Education and Training Certificate Programs in the TVET  in line with the Kenya National Qualifications Framework:

  • Water Engineering Technology
  • Wastewater and Sanitation Engineering Technology
  • Irrigation and Drainage Engineering Technology
  • Water Resources Management Technology
  • Water Laboratory Technology
  • Plumbing and Pipefitting Technology

Entry Requirements

KCSE Mean Grade D (Plain) 

OR

Artisan Course Certification from KEWI or any Equivalent National Qualification

OR

As determined by the Academic Board

3. Artisan Courses (KNQF 4)

The Division offers the following Competency Based Education and Training Artisan Programs in the TVET  in line with the Kenya National Qualifications Framework:

  • Plumbing and Pipefitting (PPF)
  • Water Operators Course with specializations in  Meter Reading, Water Supply and Wastewater Technology
  • Water and Wastewater
