Principal Secretary Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Expresses his Optimism on KEWIs Training and Research Capacities

 

Principal Secretary, State Department for Water and Sanitation at the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh has tasked the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) Governing Council and the Management to create tailored and certified trainings for water engineers in the country.

While addressing KEWI Nairobi Campus Staff on Monday 28th August 2023 during his official visit, Dr. Kipronoh agreed that KEWI is unique in capacity building for professionals in the water sector and stands tall in supporting the government water agenda.

Dr. Kipronoh while noting that water is devolved, requested KEWI to align its programs to assist the County Governments to capacity build their human resources and provide necessary systems and processes for managing water at county level.

"Anyone who touches or handles water infrastructure will be a certified professional with accreditation from KEWI." Dr. Kipronoh said.

He expressed his admiration for the institute's commitment to addressing critical water and sanitation issues.

Dr. Kipronoh's visit has proved to be a turning point for KEWI since it marks the beginning of a dynamic transformative journey that would subsequently pave way for positive advancements in water and sanitation sector that would be spearheaded or would require the input of KEWI expertise.

While welcoming him, KEWI Chief Executive Officer Dr. Leiro Letangule has thanked the PS for finding time amidst his busy schedule to visit the institute. He requested him to extend his visit to the satellite Campuses.

In his remarks, KEWI Governing Council Chairperson Hon. Patrick Musili Mbangula  assured the PS that the Council will work hard to fulfill the institute's mandate within the law and will work together with the Ministry. Hon. Musili also assured members of staff of his support.
